BMS Data Combining
Parallel Redundant System
Charger Control
Use the SmartLink MX for battery systems with two or more MG Masters HV or LV. The SmartLink MX collects and combines all data from the MG masters in a battery system. It transmits the combined data over CAN-Bus and makes it available for third party devices. It also makes combined battery data available in such a way, that parallel connected systems are shown as one battery bank. The SmartLink MX is able to communicate with both the Master LV for low voltage systems and the Master HV for high voltage systems.

Combined I/Os
The SmartLink MX is equipped with 3 programmable relay’s, which can be set on many implemented switching modes, like the combined allowed to charge and allowed to discharge. This simplifies the external wiring to third party devices.
System Control
MG Connect App
Monitor and control the MG battery system with your smartphone or tablet. Enable bluetooth and download the MG Connect app in the Play Store or App Store. Get insight into the battery status and energy consumption. It is also possible to change settings, read-out events and update to the latest firmware.
Control 3rd party Devices
The SmartLink MX is the smart link between all MG products and third party devices. The SmartLink collects and combines all battery and communication data in the MG battery system. As a result, third party devices in a system no longer need to collect data from multiple BMSs.
The SmartLink supports interfacing with a list of common chargers and electric drives. The standard protocol is based on NMEA2000. No additional EMS or PMS is needed, because direct control is possible. The MG SmartLink provides all necessary controls to start, stop and reset the entire battery system when needed.

CAN-Bus Data Flow
To ensure a high safety standard, each battery module comes with an integrated battery management system. This is an intelligent electronic module called a slave BMS. This slave BMS measures all cell voltages and temperatures inside the battery module. It controls balancing on both cell and module level, which is unique in the market. The slave BMS in each battery module communicates with a Master BMS. Via a galvanically isolated CAN-Bus the MG Master collects and monitors the status of all battery modules. If the measured values from a battery module exceed the limit, the MG Master will automatically take action to protect all of the connected battery modules.
When the MG Master closes its main contactor, the SmartLink MX will notice this and rise a warning to the user. If the capacity of the remaining part of the system is too low, the SmartLink MX will protect the system. To do so, the SmartLink MX will shut down the complete system.
