High Voltage BMS
The Master HV is the safety and control unit for high voltage battery systems. This high voltage BMS is suitable in the range of 48 Vdc up to 900 Vdc. Each battery string requires a Master BMS. To increase the system capacity, connect multiple strings in parallel. As a result your system voltage and capacity are fully scalable. This means: flexible in design and system integration made easier. Besides the safety and control functions, the Master HV monitors and tracks all relevant parameters to provide insight into the battery status and energy consumption. The compact design makes it ideal for use in applications with limited space.
All essential components for a safe and reliable battery system are integrated in this compact designed device.

High Voltage
Use the Master HV for systems of 48 Vdc up to 900 Vdc. The power connectors enable the Master HV to easily connect a series of batteries. The Amphenol PowerLok connectors are robust and have an integrated HVIL (High Voltage Interlock Loop) to monitor the connection. The low contact resistance allows for currents up to 500 A continuously.
Acces to Data
The MG Master HV stores information on its internal memory with daily reports and special events, such as fail-safe triggers. Extract the recorded information from the Master HV and save it to a file with the MG Diagnostic Tool. Besides, remotely monitor and control your battery system with the MG Energy Portal. This web-based platform gives direct insight into all relevant data and essential battery parameters of your installation.
Master HV Certification
This high voltage BMS comes with the following type approvals as a standard:
DNV-GL*
Lloyds*
ES-Trin 62619
* Only in combination with our RS-NMC. Combinations with our newer batteries are in progress for approval.

System Redundancy
Combined Battery Banks
Use the SmartLink MX when installing two or more MG Masters. The SmartLink collects and combines the data from all your devices. It transmits this data onto the CAN-Bus and makes it available for third party devices. The unique “combined mode” function offers the possibility to create a redundant system. Use the SmartLink MX to configure this combined mode. Besides creating a redundant system, it also allows you to create large battery banks.
In other words, your battery system will always be operational and communication and power to the charger and loads will be maintained.

Protection & Control
Battery Management System
The main function of the Master HV is protecting all connected battery modules. This high voltage BMS collects all battery data and constantly monitors essential parameters. The Master HV includes two built-in safety contactors, one in the positive and one in the negative power path. The safety contactors disconnect the batteries directly from the chargers and loads when needed.
The Master HV includes many safety features as a standard, to ensure a safe and reliable battery installation:
▶ Double Safety Contactor
▶ High Voltage Interlock Loop
▶ Integrated Pre-Charge Circuit

Interlock Loop
The built-in high voltage interlock loop (HVIL) keeps the battery system operable, as long as the loop is closed. The main contactors open without intervention of the software. All power-, I/O- and CAN-Bus connectors of the Master HV are included in the high voltage interlock loop as a standard.
EMS / PMS
The integrated EMS sends and receives information to and from a PMS*, for monitoring and control of your energy storage system. The available protocols are NMEA2000 and J1939 (compatible). This includes the following functions:
PLC CAN-Bus control Start/Stop/Reset
BMS limits for chargers/inverters available
Heartbeat mechanism protocol
Pre-charge Circuit
The integrated pre-charge circuit measures the voltage level of the battery string towards the load. Moreover, it makes sure the voltage level of the load and battery string reach a safe window, before closing the safety contactors. Therefore it prevents the safety contactor from welding and/or damage of load connected equipment.

Product Features
Pre-charge circuit
Pre-charging increases the lifespan of electronic components and the reliability of the system.
During the power-up procedure, the inrush current is limited to protect system components from damage.
Current Sensor
The current sensor measures the current from and to the batteries. This gives insight into the actual current when charging or discharging the connected batteries. Additionally, the current sensor keeps track of the State-Of-Charge and protects the battery bank when there is an excessive charging current.
2 of 9Safety Contactor
In order to guarantee a safe operation of the system, a safety contactor is integrated which can disconnect the batteries from the chargers and loads. This is a second layer of protection.
3 of 9Status LED
The Status LEDs indicate the state of the system.
4 of 9Power Connectors
There are two models of the MG Master HV, the 300 A and 500 A. The only difference between the two models are the power connectors. This means that they differ in the maximum allowable current.
