“For Stratos, the answer was MG Energy Systems.”
This story of Stratos Yachts and MG started when they needed a safe, quiet, and easy to integrate power solution. An onboard solution that would support all comfort equipment, navigation systems without relying on generator noise. MG supplied the complete marine battery safety system making this possible, enabling longer autonomy, lower maintenance, and a smooth system integration.
Stratos a Vision Rooted in Strength and Reliability
Stratos Yachts is a Dutch yacht builder focused on designing vessels that combine strength, comfort, and stability with uncompromised seaworthiness. Their yachts meet CE-A classification standards, one of the highest levels of certification for offshore operation.
Their philosophy is simple: precision engineering, no shortcuts, and execution that performs reliably in every season and climate.
And this mindset is exactly what made MG a natural fit.
Why MG, Safety at the Core
One of the primary challenges in any build is ensuring components from different manufacturers work together. By using a single-source system, where both the batteries and the Battery Management System (BMS) are from MG, the Stratos team eliminated common compatibility hurdles. This approach significantly streamlines the installation process.
The level of control and safety of the MG battery system is one of the reasons Stratos felt confident integrating MG into their yachts. MG products are designed to fulfill their need for performance, without unpredictability, without complexity.
This is the outcome of strong engineering and easy integration.
MG on Board the Stratos 50: A Safe Electrical System Designed for Silence and Reliability
The commitment to solid design and precision engineering made MG a perfect partner in their latest project. Stratos 50, a yacht with 15.06 meters in length, with the need of a reliable, safe energy and easy integration of the system, especially with the growing demand for silent operation, and comfort equipment.
For this yacht, MG supplied the complete marine battery safety system powering the onboard electrical devices, from navigation and control systems to comfort and hotel loads.
What the System Powers
The MG system provides reliable power to all onboard essentials, like navigation systems, air-conditioning, and kitchen appliances; ensuring safe operation and true comfort without relying on generator noise. This means: Silent operation, lower maintenance requirements, reduced fuel usage, longer independent operation away from marinas.
The components of the system are:
- 4x LFP 230, with a total of 23.2 kWh
- Master LV
- AFC 300
- MG Energy Monitor
The Power Behind Reliability: the MG AFC 300
A key element of the system is the MG AFC 300 alternator regulator, which ensures alternators and the battery system operate in harmony. It is designed for marine environments where safety and reliability matter every day. The AFC 300 monitors voltage, current, and temperature of the alternator at all times, and it maintains stable operation under heavy load. It also integrates easily with the yacht’s electrical network, which keeps installation simple and clean.
The AFC 300 alternator regulator ensures safe charging voltages and temperature management, protecting alternator and battery health and maximizes service intervals.
In summary
This project demonstrates how a well-engineered energy architecture can support modern yacht requirements without increasing system complexity. By prioritizing safety, control, and compatibility at the system level, the onboard electrical setup delivers predictable performance, silent operation, and long-term operational stability. Enabling a premium lifestyle on the water, while reducing fuel consumption and improving overall vessel reliability.
